PROJECT PROGRESS
WHAT is going well?
So far our project has gone relatively smoothly with little issues arising externally and internally. We have already delivered one of our project goals which was the awareness booth in downtown, Blacksburg, which greatly exceeded our expectations and helped many people find a safe ride home on homecoming night.
In addition, our project scope was initially too narrow and Professor Deane suggested we increase our scope. Our team did a great job of brainstorming original ideas to increase our scope as well as documenting them with the pros and cons of each, estimated time allowance, and the description. We were able to analyze our documentation to help choose which of our new ideas we wanted to implement. It make it so much easier to do this on paper.
So far our client has been incredibly helpful with giving us information about No Hokie Left Behind and there has been little to no resistance from our client with our proposed deliverables. We got approval for our two new deliverables. The project team overall works well together and has achieved the task we have assigned each other promptly and before the deadlines. All team members are on the same page and are committed to this project.
WHAT challenges are you facing?
We originally struggled with expanding our project scope to a suitable level to meet our goals, while trying to find deliverables that we felt would leave an impact on the community and not being done just for the sake of a good grade. However, we now believe that we have expanded our project sufficiently and are now working towards achieving our project goals.
One of our deliverables took a while to be worked out because our sponsor had trouble finding the login information for the social media accounts. This was an external conflict, one in which we did not have much control over, so our group handled this professionally and was patient until we got confirmation we could make this happen from our sponsor. Now we just need to make up for lost time and get rolling on our newly approved deliverables.
Furthermore, meeting together as a full group has been difficult due to all of us having busy schedules between classes, other group projects, interviews, and other commitments. Our client is extremely busy and making times to meet in person can be difficult at times when we factor in deadlines for progress reports and deliverables.
